Debian ROCm CI
A 4-month internship in the Div/Exp GRADES division at Synchrotron SOLEIL, supervised by Emmanuel Farhi and Frédéric-Emmanuel Picca. The aim was to reduce the scientific-computing stack’s dependence on NVIDIA/CUDA by testing whether Debian scientific packages run on AMD GPUs through ROCm.
I wrote OpenCL autopkgtests and validated the builds in a podman+ROCm container (via sbuild), then upstreamed them to Debian’s GitLab Salsa. ROCm autotests were added for PyOpenCL, Nabu, Ufo-filters, clpeak, pyvkfft, gpyfft, silx and sasmodels; packages with no OpenCL code (genx, examl) or stuck on an unfinished Python 2→3 migration (pysph) were ruled out. It is a first set of building blocks helping the wider Debian scientific community move from NVIDIA to AMD.
